Kentucky Family

Yesterday, Roy's family came over for Riley's 11th Birthday Party. Looking at the pictures I am ashamed of myself for how few I got of the man himself, but such was the nature of the day and this particular 11 year old who never seems to stop moving when his cousin Trenton is around. This was the best I could do.

We live so close to Roy's sister and her two kids, but I can't remember when we were last together. It's truly a shame, as these kids love each other.

Sophie and Aubrey, 3 months apart, were inseparable. They at their cake together. They went pee together. They slammed the door to Sophie's room and fell on the floor in giggles together. And they shared many laps over the course of the afternoon.

Trenton and Riley (almost 6 years apart) have a relationship that I think they will always cherish, and I know Riley will be a good role model for Trenton and that he won't buy him beer. At least he better not buy him beer...

"good role model" doesn't come to mind when I look at these pictures, but hey, it is what it is.

and whenever we're together, we're robbed.

It was a simple birthday party, followed by pizza at our favorite pizza place, Brooklyn Pizza, and a celebration of Earth hour. I would love to tell you that we spent the hour playing candy land and scrabble, doing puzzles, and eating popcorn. Alas, we spent it watching Terminator 2, but without the lights on AND I turned off the computer. Still, I was able to get this little gem.

I love the look on Riley's face.

It makes sense that one of the first things Riley said to me on Friday was, "Today we had the puberty talk" followed quickly by, "I have a new girlfriend. She's the most popular girl in 5th grade." Oh, what the next 11 years will bring...

Happy Birthday, Riley, whom I've never actually met, but oh whom I've read a lot. Riley is only two months younger than my son. If we lived closer together than 1200 miles, I imagine they would be buddies, as it sounds like they enjoy many of the same things.

P.S. Remind me to e-mail you a picture of Roy sleeping in a box in high school. Set construction - good times, good times!
